2.

Our media product contains males including the ‘Scientist’ and the main character which are both males. At the start of the sequence the Father/Scientist is shown experimenting on a baby which shows him in a bad light as it shows him neglecting his child. We have chosen to represent him like this as we are trying to portray him as a evil character and clearly shows the insane side to him. The protagonist is shown as calm and collective (as you can see in Fig.1) however he is also late for school and alone which could stereotype teenagers for not showing any effort in school or not being punctual so it also shows the main character in a bad light. We chose to represent him like this as he is mysterious and lonely and shows how he doesn’t tell anyone about his powers making the audience sympathize for him. This could be seen as a positive stereotype as he persists on going to school even though he is portrayed as lonely and mysterious. He doesn’t start a fight with the teacher coming round the corner, instead he avoids the situation which gives the main character a positive outlook on him. A negative stereotype is the school kid (Fig.2) who is seen with his shirt out and tie low down, this is a negative stereotype as it could be seen as a common school kid who rebels in this way. This could show the social group of ‘School kids’ as ill mannered and rude which is similar to shows like waterloo road who portray school kids in a bad light, such as kids doing drugs and having fights.
